WHAT: The Greek community in New York city, and their friends will be demonstrating in a RALLY FOR HELLENIC HUMAN RIGHTS outside the US Mission to the UN to demand that FYROM's oppression and racial discrimination against the Hellenic (Greek community) end now, and to call for a proper investigation by the US State Department of human rights violations.
WHY: The historic Hellenic (Greek) communities living in the Monastiri and Pelagonia area (under FYROM control), many of whom are now dispersed throughout FYROM, have reportedly been denied the right to their Hellenic ethnicity, FYROM’s efforts to deny the existence of Hellenes in Pelagonia, coupled with its systematic destruction of cultural and religious monuments, the
renaming of cities and other geographic landmarks and its methodical program of forcible assimilation make the current FYROM government an accomplice to and culpable for Crimes Against Humanity, we emphasize that the Hellenic people in FYROM have a right to breathe free and WILL NOT LIVE IN FEAR. These are grave human rights violations as outlined in the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, mainly the right to a nationality.THE HELLENIC HUMAN RIGHTS RALLY will distribute a 12 point resolution addressing human rights violations against the Hellenic (Greek) community in Pelagonia, currently FYROM.
