Sassoon was born in Hammersmith, London,[3] and lived in Shepherds Bush. His parents were Jewish. His mother, Betty (Bellin), came from a family of immigrants from Ukraine, and his father, Nathan Sassoon, was from Thessaloniki, Greece.
