Pangalos: Gruevski Should Show Courage and Put a Qualifier to the Name
- I think that the discussion about the name, which shouldn't even occur, is already closed. Let us make our lives easier, let us find a qualifier. May courage be showed by PM Gruevski or any other of your political leaders, let him put a qualifier , so that the question may be closed.
This was stated in an interview for "Utrinski Vesnik" which will be published in Thursday, by former Minister for Foreign Affairs, Theodoros Pangalos.
- Whomever wants, let him be Alexander the Great. Here [in Greece] occasionally some funny people in education or among cultural elite are dressing up like ancient Greeks, others still believe in ancient gods and offer sacrifice to them. I have a friend from China whose name is Leonidas. When somebody in Shanghai may call himself Leonidas, than anyone in Skopje may give names like Alexander, Philipos. I thing it is not a question that should bother us. I believe that the language and the national identity are matter of self-determination and that everyone is that what he thinks he is. Nobody can tell him what he can be or cannot be - states the former chief of Greek diplomacy.
Pangalos urges for solution of the name problem and putting an end to the story in an exclusive interview.
