In a statement issued on Sunday evening, the German is said to have suffered a "head trauma with coma that required immediate neurosurgical treatment."
Schumacher suffered his injuries at the Méribel ski resort shortly after 11am local time. He was initially taken to a hospital in Moutiers, before being transferred to the Grenoble hospital.
