The Greek ambassador to the United States expressed his disappointment with a US decision not to include Greece in the US Visa Waiver Program, in which Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia are now part."Greece should have been the first to enter the program," Alexandros Mallias said, as quoted by Kathimerini.Last week, US Ambassador in Greece Daniel Speckhard was upbeat about Greece's prospects for admission to the VWP, saying that it was "just a matter of time now."Kathimerini points out speculations exist that Greece was not included on the list as a retaliation for Athens blocking Macedonia's bid to join NATO earlier this year due to a dispute over the name of the former Yugoslav republic.
